Just last week I was browsing through a piece in Fortune 100 and found about this thing I had never heard of before called a skype phone.These two are now rich beyond their craziest dreams because of selling their concept to one of the premier sites on the web,e bay.What am I talking about.Many know it as skype.This idea of calling someone for nothing over the internet is not a new one.

So all you have is rig up a phone to your laptop and you can see and talk to anyone anywhere in the world using skipe.Saying that though it is not all plain sailing as a slow connection will be of no use to you.Fantastic pictures are not guaranteed however if your connection is slow.

So I went on Ebay and yes you guessed it, they are flogging phones already due to skyp.We think skype has been in existence for a year to date and it is proving hugely popular.

Due to Skypes massive success big commercial telephone companies are trying to get a foothold in the marketplace.I guess the question remains is it commercially viable.Will it take on the web by storm, or is it just a passing fad.

You can be fairly sure that a lot of start ups will flood the market in the hope of making a killing but it has an established foothold. The govt will undoubtedly see the plusses and want to add money to their coffers by using voip.Skype are charging to make phone calls to cell phones and local regular phones, and that's called skyping out,etc.

It looks like voice over interet protocol is also at the forefront of web video conferencing as well. Web video conferencing was a groundbreaking idea about ten years ago but then fell off the radar but now it is making a comeback.

My opinion is that audio and video over the internet, especially over a broadband connection will see a shift in popularity.Some people claim that audio and video will be no big deal but I disagree, I think it will be massive.

The next ten years will be make or break for the world of voip and only the consumers will tell us whether the free skype download is worth shouting home about.We will know fairly soon how it performs .
